Management Board SecretaryMary joined ADHD WA in January 2022 as a family member and was appointed to the Board in March 2022.
Mary has sat on numerous boards in varying roles and in 2016 graduated from the Australian Institute for Company Directors (AICD) and attended subsequent PD in “The role of the Not for Profit Chair”, “Governance in the NFP sector” and “Financial Performance for NFP’s.
Since 2011, Mary has worked at Developmental Disability WA and in January 2018, she was promoted to CEO. Many members of DDWA have the shared experience of developmental disability and ADHD, so Mary has both personal and professional understanding of the specific issues people with ADHD face. Personally, Mary has supported a family member who did not receive a diagnosis until post school, which explained the many difficulties they faced at school and the need for greater awareness of ADHD.
Mary has a Bachelor of Social Science (Human Service Management) and a Certificate in Child Care. Her diverse experience has included living-in with families in the UK who have children with significant disabilities, managing professional development for disability service providers and managing a disability support service in the Pilbara for 11 years. This remote experience has a unique insight into the complexities of living and providing services so far from Perth, particularly the specific needs of aboriginal families who are living with disability.
