Dawson Cooke

I provide psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. I am deeply committed to my role in helping others gain insight, find relief from distress and develop life-giving skills. My approach draws on a range of evidence based interventions and ways to support adjustment or manage mental/emotional difficulties. Most importantly, I seek to have a genuinely open/curious attitude towards clients and to provide a safe place to explore difficult issues.

One of my particular interests is the parent role, an interest developed though my own parenting experience and my work at Ngala over the past 20 years – facilitating groups, providing professional development workshops and now in a professional advisory and research role. My PhD and subsequent research has been mostly on the father-child relationship, which I now undertake as a Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University.

I also provide psychotherapy for addictions at Fresh Start in Subiaco (Tuesdays & Thursdays).
