UWA student Jenny Tibbits is conducting her doctoral research on “How Western Australian teachers diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as adults deal with their work” and is looking for the participants.
Current literature does not appear to fully address the complexity of the disorder or the magnitude to which the inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity associated with the diagnosis impacts on all areas of adult life. The aim of this study is to generate theory that will add to the limited base of evidence on how adults diagnosed with ADHD deal with their work. It is hoped that the findings of this study will have practical relevance to those responsible for the development of policy to address the needs of teachers who, as adults, have a clinical diagnosis of ADHD or other teachers who experience similar difficulties in the workplace. The findings might be used to assist with promoting an awareness and understanding of adult diagnosed ADHD, and in doing so reduce the stigma of ADHD in the workplace.
