When you become a volunteer with ADHD WA you are part of the team.
Whatever skills, experience or passions you have, there is bound to be an opportunity for you to make a real contribution to the ADHD community. There are a number of pathways for volunteering;
- Attend an information session and register to become a project/event/general volunteer
- Attend our four week support line training session, followed by mentoring and practical experience
- Request student placement at ADHD WA. For example we currently have a provisionally registered psychologist and art therapy practitioner volunteering with us.
Why volunteer at ADHD WA?
Apart from being a fun, positive and proactive organisation we are committed to providing an environment in which you can flourish, both personally and professionally. This includes ongoing training, mentoring and support.
"I am currently studying a Psychology degree and wanted to gain real world experience - ADHD WA has given me that opportunity. I enjoy helping people on the support line as I feel like I am making a real difference"
"Not only have I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering at ADHD WA, I have learned so many valuable skills which will have helped me to grow as a person, but also helped me to grow into an advocate for mental health"
Working with us is also an opportunity to be part of changing the conversation about ADHD, while also building personal and professional networks in an organisation that recognises the mutually beneficially opportunities volunteering can provide.
Plus you get to be part of a dynamic and growing health campus - QEII (formerly Sir Charles Gairdner). On site we are nestled in the neurological hub at the Niche, which enables us to offer an accessible office and great transport options.
Please note; participation in support line training does encompass a small fee. If this is a barrier, we offer a limited number of (no fee) places in the training program to long term volunteers. This opportunity is offered based on a organisational needs assessment and placement is not guaranteed.
We look forward to welcoming you to the ADHD WA Team.
