Year in Review



We wanted to update all of our members and supporters about our activities in 2015, prior to the AGM next year. 

Learn, Strive, Thrive is not only our new tagline but it is at the core of everything we do.  So, as you will see from the picture above the focus of this yearly reflection is LEARN.

ReflectReflecting on 2015 includes thinking about what worked, what did not work and what we could have done differently.

Our Top 10 Achievements for this year....

  6. Introduction of Volunteer Recognition Awards at AGM - named after LADS 'founders.
  7. Three Seminars/Workshops; Change, Transition and Adult ADHD  | Managing Change and Transition  | Study Skills and Procrastination Busting
  8. Expanded service delivery team, including support line workers, support group facilitators and psychology/counselling team.
  9. New sponsors, supporters and partnerships
  10. Sustained membership levels and increased member engagement.

What issues did we solve?

Solving problems often requires insight and perspective from multiple directions.  The result of this was a review of our support groups for the purpose of improving the efficacy and efficiency.  Part of this process included reviewing existing services, conducting a survey and obtaining funding to provide group attendees with more resources.  These resources will be added to by the LADDER (now available as a blog - you are reading it) and adding to our pool of online resources, including fact sheets which will be ready for release early in 2016.

What did we create?

Powerful partnerships are essential to success in the not for profit sector, now more than ever.  To this end we connected and created strong relationships across a range of sectors; education, disability services, mental health, sport and recreation, creative arts, academia and a range of health and community service organisations.  This was facilitated through public presentations, meetings and attending a range of public events.  This also included our active participation in mental health, carers, disability and youth week events. 

How did we grow?

Not only did we expand our office hours we also expanded the LADS team.  We love the vibrant and positive atmosphere this has created in the office.  We also expanded the scope of the Education Awards for Learning Differences week, which was proudly supported by the City of Subiaco.  This enabled us to present seven awards to a range of fabulous educators and innovators.  Increasing awareness and bringing together members, supporters and inspiring leaders - who are all focussed and passionate, about improving the lives of people living with ADHD/LD.

What were we thinking?

We were learning from the challenges, while also finding ways to strive to be better.  Because everyone in the LADS team is passionate about what we do and committed to LADS being a proactive, productive and sustainable organisation into the future.  This means ensuring we continue to provide the support, information and advocacy which the ADHD/LD community has come to depend on, while also reaching out to more individuals and families.  Throughout this year our team have been working on a range of programs; our adult program has been developed and is reaching the end of the early evaluation phase.  The teen program has been developed and we are seeking seed funding for a pilot in 2016, there are a couple passionate educators ready to get started.  Last but not least our parent/families program is being developed.   All of these programs will be formally released in 2016 - but we wanted you to know what we are thinking.
