ADHD WA Welcomes Funding Commitment to Train and Equip Educators
ADHD WA welcomes the announcement from the Liberals WA committing to $250,000 per annum, for 4 years, to support the expansion of ADHD WA’s professional development programs for teachers, principals, and school staff. This funding will enhance much-needed training to equip teachers with the knowledge and strategies to support students with ADHD and their families effectively.
ADHD is the most common neurodevelopmental disorder in children and adolescents. It is therefore crucial that it is recognised, and that individuals receive the support they need rather than being overlooked or forgotten.
Strengths-based approaches in classrooms play a vital role in supporting children throughout the education journey. The ADHD WA professional development programs have been developed in collaboration with ADHD specialists on our Professional Advisory Body and have been successfully delivered to hundreds of educators across Western Australia.
Feedback from participants highlights the program’s impact: “This is an extremely valuable professional learning! One of the best! All Australian teachers and schools should do these PLs to better understand and support our students with ADHD.”

While this funding commitment is a significant step forward, ongoing investment is essential to ensure sustainable, long-term support for individuals with ADHD across the lifespan.
“ADHD WA calls on all levels of government and the broader community to continue prioritising ADHD support services, research, and awareness initiatives” says Dr Michele Toner OAM, ADHD WA Chairperson.
ADHD WA has been supporting the ADHD community for over 30 years and will continue to advocate for accessible evidence-based services for individuals with ADHD across their lifespan.
